Mark was re-elected on October 19, 2015 to the 42nd Canadian Parliament for his fifth term as Member of Parliament for the federal riding of Langley—Aldergrove. He was appointed the Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Seniors: Palliative Care and Senior Income Security. He is the voice of Canadian Seniors in Parliament.
Mark loves representing his community. He is this Parliament’s longest serving Conservative MP from British Columbia. He is passionate about environmental sustainability and was the Parliamentary Secretary to four different Ministers of the Environment, from 2006 to 2011.
He works to build Canada’s bilateral relationships as Vice-Chair of the Canada-Philippines Parliamentary Group, Treasurer of the Canada-Ukraine and Canada-Taiwan Parliamentary Groups, Director for the Canada-Korea and Canada-Israel Parliamentary Groups, and as a Member of the Canada-Europe, and Canada-Hong Kong Parliamentary Groups.
Mark was with the Prime Minister on a State visit to Ukraine in 2010. He led a Canadian Parliamentarian delegation to Taiwan. He was part of a Canadian trade delegation to Ukraine, and served as an election observer during the October 2014 Parliamentary elections in Ukraine. Mark was a member with the National Defense Committee study on a NATO in Belgium, Latvia and Ukraine.
Mark is a long-time resident of Langley BC, where he and his wife Diane raised their 5 children. They now have 10 grandchildren.
